The Tower Tree...
"Oh, you're from that place that has a tree growing out of the courthouse!" is a common phrase for folks from Greensburg to hear. The Decatur County Courthouse was built in 1860, and in 1870, a tree started growing out of the courthouse tower. It is our claim to fame and something that makes us stand out from other cities. This tree keeps us rooted in who we are as we continually look for new ways to cultivate change to make our community a better place to live and work.
...And So Much More
While Greensburg is noted for the Tower Tree, we have so much more to offer in addition! Our downtown area offers a variety of locally owned shops, restaurants, and businesses. As you read earlier, Greensburg offers big-city amenities with a small-town feel, and that is why we think it is the perfect place to live, and we think you will, too!
